Agape Manor Home acknowledges and condemns the racial injustices and violence the Black community has experienced. We reject behaviors of racism, discrimination, violence and social injustice, and these deplorable behaviors are not tolerated under any circumstances. We want to communicate our support and validation to our Black employees, foster parents and foster children. We stand in solidarity with our Black community that has been negatively affected by a long history of racism. That painful past is still present today — not only in the form of violence, but in the everyday experience of deeply rooted discrimination. The term “Agape” refers to the highest form of love; and practicing this love without any limits is the cornerstone of our success at Agape Manor Home, Inc. As we all strive continuously to become better versions of ourselves, it is imperative to extend Agape to the Black community. In the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., “Every society has its protectors of status quo and its fraternities of the indifferent who are notorious for sleeping through revolutions. Today, our very survival depends on our ability to stay awake, to adjust to new ideas, to remain vigilant and to face the challenge of change.” To stand together, we must stand for one another.
