The purpose of foster care is to provide a safe, structured, nurturing and stable environment for children that are displaced from their biological homes. 

Agape Manor home Child Placing Agency is licensed by Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (TDFPS), and is committed to protect the children and strengthen and support our families.

We recruit our foster families from our community that are capable of providing a safe, nurturing and stable environment for the children. Agape invites you to become part of the ministry of foster care that touches and makes changes in the lives of children that are abused or neglected.

 

TEN TRAITS OF AGAPE FOSTER PARENTS MINIMUM FOSTER PARENT QUALIFICATIONS
  • Foster parent is knowledgeable about the child welfare system and its method of operations.
  • Foster parent does not personalize the negative behavior of a child.
  • Foster parent functions as the center of a team providing services to a child.
  • Foster parent promotes professionalism when in conflicting situations with other team members.
  • Foster parent is organized, keeps records on each child and documents thoroughly.
  • Foster parent is able to adjust schedule to meet changing needs of child.
  • Foster parent can provide training and mentoring to new foster parents.
  • Foster parent can provide emergency respite and intervene with new foster families to avoid disruptions.
  • Foster parent communicates so as to keep the needs of children at the center of decision making.
  • Foster parent understands investigations are a part of the fostering experience and welcomes the process.
  1. Be at least 21 years of age, financially stable and a responsible, mature, healthy adult
  2. Be married or divorced for at least one year (can also be single)
  3. Show proof of marriage and/or divorce
  4. Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  5. Be able to clear a criminal history/FBI background check and abuse/neglect central registry check on all adults in the household
  6. Your home must pass a city fire and environmental health inspection
  7. Must clear random drug tests
  8. Must have favorable Home study
